Indian e-commerce firm,Lokpal,to get $100 million from Apple for Android app
LOKPAL, India – The Indian ecommerce firm Lokpal is in talks with Apple Inc. to acquire an undisclosed amount of its mobile app, an official with the company said on Tuesday.
Lokpal has been trying to acquire Apple’s iPhone app for some time.
The Indian company is trying to build an ecosystem for its products that will allow it to reach more users.
Apple is working on a free mobile app for India.
It is expected to be launched in the next few weeks.
Lokpals CEO Pankaj Singh told The Times Of India that Apple had recently acquired WhatsApp, the messaging app which is now the dominant messaging app in the world.
“We are talking to them about acquiring WhatsApp,” Singh said.
Singh also said Lokpac’s Android app would not be a competitor to Apple’s.
“Apple is a very good competitor.
We have seen that from Google and Facebook, too,” he said.
